Privacy Policy

StemForge is operated by WhoisFDE, a sole proprietorship based in Ontario, Canada("we", "us"). This policy explains what personal information we collect through getstemforge.com and the StemForge app, why, and what you can do about it. We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

Your audio stays on your Mac

StemForge separates stems and detects tempo and key on your own computer. Your audio and your Premiere Pro projects are never uploaded to us.

What we collect

• When you buy: your email address, the amount paid, any promo code used, the Stripe payment reference, the license key we issue, and the date. Your card details go directly to Stripe. We never see or store them.
• License checks: the app sends your license key to our server when you activate it and periodically afterwards. Like any internet request, this reveals your IP address to our hosting provider.
• Downloads: we count downloads of the app and the license certificate, without recording who downloaded them.
• When you email us: your email address and whatever you choose to write.
• Website: our hosting provider keeps standard technical logs, such as IP address, browser type and pages requested, to run and secure the site.

We don't use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and we don't sell or rent personal information.

Why we use it

• to process your purchase and deliver your download and license;
• to check that a license is valid, and to stop shared, fraudulent or revoked licenses;
• to answer your questions and provide support;
• to keep the records that Canadian tax and accounting law requires.

We only email you about your purchase and your license. We don't add you to a marketing list.

Connections the app makes

• Our license server, to check your license key.
• Update checks, to see whether a newer version of StemForge is available.
• Model download, once, the first time you use a separation model. The app downloads the model files from huggingface.co, falling back to dl.fbaipublicfiles.com (Meta). These services see a standard download request from your IP address. No audio is sent.

Who processes information for us

We use a small number of service providers. Each one only gets what it needs to do its job:

• Stripe, for payments.
• Supabase, our database, hosted in Canada.
• Vercel, which hosts this website and our license server.
• Cloudflare, which stores the files you download and runs our domain.
• Resend, which sends your purchase email.

Some of these providers process information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be accessible to authorities under local law. They may only use it to provide their services to us.

How long we keep it

We keep purchase and license records for as long as your license is active, and for at least six years after a purchase because Canadian tax law requires it. Support emails are kept while they are useful for helping you, then deleted.

How we protect it

Purchase and license records are only accessible from our server, never directly from the website or app. Access to our accounts is limited to us. No system is perfectly secure, but we will tell you, and report it as the law requires, if a breach puts your information at real risk.

Your rights

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we aren't required to keep it. Email us and we will reply within 30 days. Deleting your purchase record also deactivates your license. If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Children

StemForge isn't intended for children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If we change how we handle personal information, we'll update this page and its date.
